Sowing & Planting
- Sow broad bean seeds outdoors and plant garlic and rhubarb sets
- Plant bare-root cherries and plums any time between November and January
- Plant apple and pear trees, currants and gooseberries.
- Plant new bare-root canes of raspberries in trenches filled with well-rotted compost
Harvesting
- Harvest leeks and parsnips
- Pick autumn raspberries and cranberries
- Harvest root vegetables, autumn brassicas and late-season salad crops
Preparation
- Dig over your plot, removing any perennial weeds and adding plenty of well-rotted organic material
- Cover beds with polythene to protect the soil from heavy rain
- Remove nets from fruit cages but keep them over Brussels sprouts, cabbages and other brassicas
