Sowing & Planting

• Sow broad bean seeds outdoors and plant garlic and rhubarb sets
• Plant bare-root cherries and plums any time between November and January
• Plant apple and pear trees, currants and gooseberries.
• Plant new bare-root canes of raspberries in trenches filled with well-rotted compost

Harvesting

• Harvest leeks and parsnips
• Pick autumn raspberries and cranberries
• Harvest root vegetables, autumn brassicas and late-season salad crops

Preparation

• Dig over your plot, removing any perennial weeds and adding plenty of well-rotted organic material
• Cover beds with polythene to protect the soil from heavy rain
• Remove nets from fruit cages but keep them over Brussels sprouts, cabbages and other brassicas
